DISCLAIMER - The bulk of the following information is taken verbatim from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.  It is presented here so you may have the information for game purposes.

With a new government still determining the bounds of its responsibilities after an invasion by the hordes of an evil lich, Damara is ideal for those seeking adventure.

The Gates:  Guarding the ends of Bloodstone Pass stand two large fortress walls.  The Gates are patrolled regularly and contain stockpiles of food in case of invasion.  The Damaran Gate measures three miles long, thirty feet high, it is studded with ballista-defended towers at regular intervals and has a castle at either end.  The Vaasan Gate measures half a mile long and 60 feet high, with similar towers as the Damaran Gate, but no castles.  The Vaasan Gate is used by many an adventurer as a camp and base for monster hunting.

Heliogabalus (Metropolis):  The old seat of the Damaran monarchy, the new monarchy has once again claimed it for their throne.  It is a prosperous trading city and it quite literally the end of a long road for merchants traveling north from other areas of Faerun.  Influenced by independent merchants' guilds, the city supplies the region with foreign goods.

Until recently (within the last five years) the city had no army, relying on the protection of mercenaries provided by the guilds.  The new king, however, has ordered the guilds to disperse their mercenaries and now paladins of Ilmater lead recruits in the protection of the city.

Trailsend (Large City):  The city is a barony capital and is built around a large, heavily fortified castle.  The barony and city maintain friendly relations with the nation of Impiltur.  Baron Donlevy the Young (LN male human Ftr3/Rog3) survived the reign of the Witch-King while in hiding, leveraged the alliance to endorse King Dragonsbane.  The Baron, now a wealthy noble, is the king's primary liaison to Impiltur.  Being the first city visitors to the region see, several businesses cater solely to finding unusual employment for adventurers.
